Annafest at the Forchheim Beer gardens from 20th to 29th July 2013
Each year at the end of July, the Kellerwald is the center of franconian hospitality. The Annafest celebrated here since 1840 is one of the most interesting and charming folk festivals in Franconia. More than 20 Bierkellers (seven are open all year round) serving food and drinks, a Ferris wheel and a childrens carousel to name but two of the many amusement rides and stands all rounded off with excellent live Bavarian music and also modern music bands. There are many stands selling anything from german sausages, barbecued food, platters and fried fish as well as non-consumables.
Family Days with reduced prices are on Tuesday and Thursday from 1.00 pm to 6.00 pm.
With seatings for about 30.000 the Kellerwald provides enough space for the 450.000 - 500.000 visitors who come during the 10-day festival period, so that everyone, from near or far, can always find a seat.
During the summer evenings it is the perfect location for a tasty platter - a "Brotzeit" - and a cool beer in the shady woods and in winter, a number of the Bierkeller offer very good franconian home cooking.
A regular bus service is provided from the town and surrounding areas to the Annafest and back again, so you can leave your car behind.
Annafest takes place in the following years:
- 26.07.2014 - 04.08.2014
- 25.07.2015 - 03.08.2015
