The Romantik Hotel Gut Schmelmerhof – one of the region’s true gems – lies at the foot of the Hirschenstein in Rettenbach, St. Englmar. The first documented record of Gut Schmelmerhof dates way back to 1305 and since 1630 the premises have been in the hands of one single family. The thick granite outer walls of the farm are still from the original building.
Our vaulted restaurant from 1864 makes the perfect atmospheric setting for our guests to enjoy some of our wide array of culinary delights such as sophisticated Bavarian cuisine, international gourmet delicacies or a romantic dinner conjured up by our chef de cuisine
Alfons Walser. We also offer a complete menu of regional and international dishes with something to suit everyone. The dishes using our very own Galloway beef from our own herd (Scottish Highland cattle) that have become a recognised house speciality are to be highly recommended. The hotel also boasts its own superb wine cellar comprising some 6,000 bottles of over 130 different top quality wines to ensure the complete success of a harmonious evening meal.
The rooms are furnished in a contemporary style with careful attention to detail.
