Burg Rabenstein
In the heart of Franconian Switzerland, high on a plateau above the Ailsbach village on the Castle Road lies Burg Rabenstein. First mentioned as far back as 1188 restructuring into a baroque castle began in 1830 under Count von Schönborn. With King Ludwig I of Bavaria appearing on the guest list Burg Rabenstein is quite used to playing host to royalty and even today can make guests to the castle feel like royalty during their stay.
The castle not only has 22 individually designed rooms, its secluded location makes it popular as a conference venue. The castle hosts regular cultural and culinary events in the evening at which both the guests and even the castle itself seem to enjoy the glamour.
The crackling of a log fire in the lounge is a fine substitute for a television in your room. Inspiration and contemplation envelops the guests in the spacious rooms and suites where they can enjoy the warm elegance, the exquisite furnishings and fittings and the castle’s inimitable style. What better than to stand by the open window listening to the peace and tranquility whilst letting both soul and thoughts soar over the tops of the trees to the clear starry skies above and to enjoy a few dreamy hours in a true castle ambiance.
The tap room serving good home style Franconian fare, the castle tour, the falconry centre, the Celtic village with its large campfire and the impressive Sophie’s Cave (Sophienhöhle) offering a wide range of cultural events annually draw large numbers of visitors to the castle.
