With the help of an audio-visual guide, English speaking guests can now experience a special guided tour through the Three Rivers City Passau. Via earphones, as well as with images, the electronic guide provides information about Passau’s history and most important sights.
With the help of a map, the users can follow at any time a given route or create their own route along the numbered places of interest.
Two of the local rivers, namely the Danube and the Inn, personified as mother and father of the little daughter river Ilz, guide the guests through Passau. With informative, entertaining, amusing and sometimes playful dialogues, the rivers accompany guests on their way through the Old Town.
The route leads from the town hall to the confluence of the three rivers, to the cathedral and along the river Inn. The parents Danube and Inn do also elaborate on the sights, places of interest and buildings along the way and in other parts of the town as the fortress “Veste Oberhaus”, the pilgrimage church “Maria Hilf” and the University of Passau.
The audio guides are distributed for a fee in the Tourist Information Office at the new Town Hall together with a handy city map in which the route and the numbers of the various stations are marked.
