The Haßberge nature reserve is a gift to everyone who values the beautiful aspects of life: Gently rolling hills, idyllic river and lake landscapes, sun-drenched vineyards and beer and Franconian viniculture, castles, fortresses and small towns with half-timbered houses all combine to create a more than endearing landscape. Where once writers, poets and knights tarried, you can today discover dream destinations.
Our excursion tips:
Nature and relaxation
Right in the middle of the Haßberge Nature Reserve you will find the Sandstone Stations of the Cross which impressively present scenes and figures hewn from local sand stone. The Abt-Degen-Steig (The Abbot Degen Climb) leads through a wine-growing district and offers wonderful views of the River Main. The first outdoor spa pool of the Franconian Thermal Baths in Bad Königshofen and the Sulzfeld bathing lake invite you to recuperate and relax. The sauna landscape of the thermal baths can be used by anyone and the individual saunas are wheelchair-friendly.
At the Altenstein Castle Ruins of the Stein zu Altenstein noble family who have now died out, young and old discoverers can immerse themselves in the Middle Ages at various discovery stations. In the Altenstein Castle Information Centre which is accessible for wheelchair users, life and everyday activities in a medieval castle come to life. An adventure app is provided to help you here. You can follow in the footsteps of the Celts in the Archaeological Museum in Bad Königshofen which is accessible at ground level. The Museum for Cross-Border Commuters in Bad Königshofen in Grabfeld recalls the time of the separation.
Franconia - a land of beer and wine
Hospitable and authentic hosts cater for the pleasures of the palate: Genuine Franconian epicurean traditions are lovingly maintained at the junction between the wine and beer territories of Franconia. Your mouths will be watering! Treat yourself to a beer “in the cellar” or relish the Franconian wine in a wine bar or seasonal barn eatery. And enjoy a good Franconian spread along with it. You can enjoy culinary delights in the Schloßbräu Inn in Reckendorf. This is a traditional inn in the former servants’ house of the Reckendorf moated castle offering plain Franconian cooking and quaffable beer.
