Are you looking for a special location for your party? The listed spa gardens of Bad Steben and its historical buildings provide a backdrop which really does seem quite regal.
Thanks to its healing springs, Bad Steben was elevated to the status of Bavarian state spa in 1832 and the state of Bavaria undertook to extend and maintain the spa facilities. For this reason King Ludwig I of Bavaria sent his caretaker and court architect Leo von Klenze to Bad Steben. Based on his plans, the Bath House (1838) came into being and later based on this the pillared pump room and the spa house (1911).
Even today the spirit of the Bavarian monarchs is still omnipresent making the life of the court almost tangible. New Year’s Day concerts, receptions, plays and weddings are held in the great spa house hall with its wood panelling and magnificently decorated ceiling.
The spa park with its well-maintained gardens and fountains can also be hired for sumptuous parties. The romantic idyll sandwiched between the Klenze building and the pump room provides an equally uplifting and atmospheric backdrop for the Biedermeier Festival, Kurpark Festival and garden show. While the park grounds with their trees which provide great shade transform in summer into a very convivial beer garden, when the Christmas market is held, the spa park turns into a small colourfully-lit little village of wooden huts.
