The year is 1742, the time of the Austrian War of Succession. The notorious and much-feared colonel of the pandours Franz von der Trenck is marching through the East Bavarian region. In the name of the Austrian Empress Maria Theresia he plunders and lays waste to all places which get in his way – and this includes the town of Waldmünchen. The battle for control of the town commences.In the glow of the blazing campfire, the savagery, recklessness and cruelty of the pandour become tangible but also his fervent veneration for and unconditional loyalty to his Empress.
Approximately 300 actors, authentic costumes and wild scenes with horsemen have been bringing the history of the town of Waldmünchen to life every summer for more than 60 years. In three major acts, the nightly performances give spectators an exciting insight into Waldmünchen’s past and the events during the Austrian War of Succession - the spectators sit very comfortably in a covered grandstand.
