All hot air? Not in the world's first and so far only Air Museum in Amberg. For here, the unassuming, but vital element becomes visible and becomes a museum exhibit in its own right. From the plastic bag organ and the flying carpet to the air shower and the autumn storm behind glass – in the Air Museum, you can hear, see, experience and understand air.
Of course, important technical developments, such as air-sprung car seats or airboards cannot be omitted.
And did you know that you can also create art from air? Air sculptors, such as the museum's founder Wilhelm Koch have used it as a material for their imaginative sculptures and works of art which can be admired in the museum.
In the Flying Classroom, the air teachers are always coming up with new and exciting projects to bring the subject of air closer to the children in all its aspects. Here, castles in the air are built, paper aeroplanes are adjusted and the children become pilots themselves.
Numerous special exhibitions, workshops and events, such as the Inflatable Boat Meet or the Air Museum Festival ensure that the air never goes out of the museum. For opening times and admission prices please visit the original website.
