At the beginning of April 2015, the Hops and Beer Museum was opened in Spalt in Central Franconia. In the freshly renovated historic granary, you can find out all about the Bavarians' favourite drink and its production over a space of 1200 square metres.
Spalt is located in the heart of one of the oldest and largest hop-growing areas in Germany. Since the 14th century, hops have played a decisive role for the town, its inhabitants and the region. It is now possible to experience the world of hops and beer with all your senses in the new museum. A panoramic cinema transports the visitors to the middle of a hop field and shows the growing and thriving of the hops over the course of the year in a time lapse film. In the walk-in brew kettle, you will learn what ingredients and processes are necessary for producing the delicious Spalt beer.
The various flavours of beer can then be explored at a separate aroma station. And, in keeping with the motto “Experience, Taste, Marvel”, the end product can, of course, be tasted in the ProBierBar (beer tasting bar) on the ground floor of the granary! Here, the new tourist information office also provides suggestions for other excursions in and around Spalt. For opening times and admission prices please visit the original website.
