Munich’s art district has now been enriched still further by a highlight of world art: In 2013 the spectacular underground new home of the State Museum of Egyptian Art was opened.
Although the State Museum of Egyptian Art is not one of the giants in its field, it does have – in terms of size – one of the highest-quality collections of its kind in the world. The statuary in particular comprises world-class works of art.
Thanks to the compact nature of the exhibition, visitors can get an overview of 5000 years of the art and culture of the ancient Egyptians in a relatively short time. What’s more, the new museum is the only one outside Egypt to be dedicated entirely to ancient Egyptian exhibits.
