- May Fair from 10th-27th May
- Autumn Fair from the end of August to the start of September
The Regensburg May Fair and Autumn Fair are a fixed part of Regensburg's calendar of events. As a smaller, but refined and cosy version of the Oktoberfest, you can experience and enjoy Bavarian beer tent tradition here twice a year.
There are two marquees serving refreshments. Half-metre sausages, roast pork, weißwürste (white sausages) with pretzels and original Regensburg Händlmaier mustard, and much more provide a good basis for enjoying the beer from Regensburg breweries.
The various bands in the tents provide the entertainment whilst you are eating with a broad repertoire, ranging from folk music to rock to current hits.
Outside the tents, there are further delicacies at the various stalls, including steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick), giant pretzels, gingerbread hearts and roasted almonds. A particular speciality is the “Regensburger Knacker”. The small, fat sausages are served in a bread roll with sweet and strong mustard, as well as gherkins and horse radish. The whole thing is then called “knackersemmel”.
Outside the marquees, a variety of fairground rides provide a festive atmosphere. A ghost train, several roller coasters and, above all, the Ferris wheel, from which you can see the whole of Regensburg, delight the visitors. There is also always something for the youngest visitors. Anyone who wants to put their skill and their luck to the test can have a go at the numerous shooting galleries and lottery stalls, where prizes are there for the taking.
As well as the hustle and bustle of the funfair, the goods fair also attracts visitors. A wide variety of goods are offered at the stalls. There is something for everyone amongst the large range of clothing, textiles, household goods and flowers.
The highlight of the fairs is the brilliant firework displays which mark the start and end of each Regensburg Fair.
