The Maisel family has been brewing its beer here in the district of Mistelbach since 1887. First in the historical red-brick brewery and then, since 1974, directly next door in the modern brewery. The cellar rooms in the old building stood empty for many years, with only the upper part of the building in use – according to the Guinness Book of Records, it remains the “most comprehensive brewery museum in the world”. And since February 2016, the ground floor has been brought back to life: Following three years of renovations, the Liebesbier restaurant and the Maisel & Friends brewery workshop – which focuses on a passion for artisanry and unique modern interpretations of brewing traditions – opened.
