The Stiftland Carp Cycle Path runs through the Waldnaab-Wondreb Sink. In the centre of this lies the Waldnaabaue federal nature reserve with its impressive collection of 2500 ponds. In countless meandering ribbons, the Waldnaab enjoys the peace of a sedate lowland river before it crashes into the roaring adventure of the Waldnaabtal canyon. Among other fauna water lilies bloom in and around the waters where rare butterflies, moor frogs, herons, storks, far too many beavers and cormorants but also ospreys and sea eagles live. This cycle tour through the oldest pond landscape in Europe will remain an unforgettable experience for you. So what are you waiting for, get in your saddle!
Liquid Pleasure: In addition to the cosy restaurants and cafés, the Zoigl beer taverns are also sometimes open at various times on the Carp Cycle Path offering you beer from the often very old local breweries with a hearty snack for your enjoyment. The Wiesauer Waldseen (Wiesau Forest Lakes) recreation area with a fish nature trail is also located on the route. On the way you will repeatedly meet artistic models of fantastic carps which are more than 2 metres long.
