Dates 2020: 14th to 18th AugustTaste more than 150 Franconian wines in one place – that is a challenge that only exists at one time at one specific event each year: Franconia's largest wine festival in Volkach in the heart of the Franconian wine-growing region is the reason for this huge variety of wines.
The Franconian wine festival provides around 7000 seats in the open air under chestnut and sycamore trees in Volkach's Stadtallee. Seven self-marketing vintners and four vintners' cooperatives offer more than 50 different wines to be enjoyed by the glass. With a further selection in the Bocksbeutel and sparkling wine lounge, there are more than 150 wines to try over the five days of the festival. A specially developed taste profile helps the visitors with their selection of wines. The culinary treats on offer range from the traditional Franconian bratwurst to freshly prepared fish, through to home-made potato pancakes as a dessert.
Around 50,000 people come to celebrate this festival properly every year. A programme of sparkling special features, e.g. a big firework display or the sparkler magic of the wine princesses. The music played ranges from traditional Franconian brass music without an amplifier to mood music.
