Canyoning in Gunzesrieder Ostertaltobel Ravine
Following a wild stream by jumping, sliding and abseiling – canyoning takes the steepest route to the bottom.
Deeply rooted in Bavaria, this extreme sport is now conquering the world.
On hot summer days a local Allgäu lad leaps into the wildest pool – and learns to explore his homeland from a whole new dimension. Professional guides now make this possible for all comers: a perfect entry into the world of canyoning can be enjoyed in the Gunzesrieder Ostertaltobel Ravine, where brave souls follow the course of the steep mountain stream. At intervals along the way, high rock faces interrupt the flow of the water, but jumping, sliding and abseiling are all part of the fun of canyoning. It represents a real challenge for the courage of participants, but they are well looked after by professionally trained guides. “The Canyonauts” make it possible for beginners from as young as seven to learn the ropes on the entry level tour in the Ostertal. However, a canyoning trip isn’t always child’s play: in the Ostertal it is possible at any time to take a step back and watch the braver members of the party who want to be pushed to their limits. Small wonder that this ravine is popular with a wide range of visitors: from family and youth groups to sports clubs and stag parties and even military abseiling and wilderness training sessions, this stream plays host to them all.
