Cross-country skiing in the Allgäu: Weißensee circuit
Enjoy the winter panorama on Lake Weißensee with breathtaking views of the Säuling near Füssen.
For many people, cross-country skiing offers an alternative to running. The Weißensee circuit in the Allgäu offers something for everyone – young and old alike. The trails around Füssen are perfect for both classic and skating styles. Everyone can put their skills to the test here.
Wiedmar and Thal are the two starting points for the circuit. The trails lead past the snowy woods and hills, through the village of Holz, past Oberdeutsch and Unterdeutsch and back to the starting point at Thal or Wiedmar. The Weißensee route offers 7.9 km of trail to conquer. Those who find this too far can choose to take the shorter circuit, which is 4.1 km in a small figure of eight. This circuit also starts in either Thal or Wiedmar and follows half the longer circuit before doubling back in a loop to the starting point.
For experienced cross-country skiers who really want to push themselves there is also the option of extending the tour, since there is a connecting trail between the Weißensee and Füssen trails. The Allgäu cross-country trail network is very well developed and on a sunny winter’s day there is nothing to stand in the way of cross-country skiing fun.
