Winter is finally here. The snow is crisp underfoot and just right for building a snowman. The children are desperate to go outside and enjoy nature. A sleigh ride is the perfect family treat.
Tobogganing is a popular sport in Bavaria. Kids hurtle down the village slopes. Grown men vie for glory on giant horn sleds. Long tobogganing runs offer several minutes of downhill fun - and in the Rhön there are even two people that make the classic Davos sledges entirely by hand. Andreas Weber and Alexander Hergenhan.
Bavaria boasts more than 100 ski regions, world cup locations and spectacular pistes - from the Allgäu to the Berchtesgaden Region. However, family skiing is a particular favourite in Bavaria, such as in Mitterfirmansreut, an idyllic village in the Bayerischer Wald (Bavarian Forest).
