The birds are twittering and insects hum. Rays of sunshine penetrate the thickly woven branches and through the trees you can catch a glimpse of the glittering blue-green of Lake Tegernsee. On a forest walking trail between the Gasthof “Freihaus Brenner” and the Hotel Sonnenbichl, a group of walkers is following local guide Sonja Still.
However, instead of marching along at a fast pace, they are treading slowly, almost deliberately on the springy cushions of moss. As they walk, they cast their eyes over the forest floor. “Look at the mushrooms over there. And here are some beechnuts,” says the local guide quietly, pointing out all the wonderful details that would normally go unnoticed. Otherwise everything is quiet. The peace of the forest – the peace of one’s thoughts.
