The way to the wildlife park in Mehlmeisel leads first to the Waldhaus (forest house), the park’s environmental education centre. Here visitors of all ages can use interactive screens to learn about the forest and find out how they can protect and maintain it. In the barrier-free wildlife park they can get up close to the forest’s inhabitants. A particular highlight are the lynx, who can jump three metres from a standing start to reach their food. There are also other wild cats in the park, as well as raccoons, snow hares and many other species. If you pick a tiny bit of the flora of the wildlife park on your walk, you can use a microscope in the forest house to examine it more closely.
