It’s a little bumpy but a lot of fun to take a wagon ride through the Weißenburg Stadtwald (town forest). But being pulled by two horses through this restorative forest while remaining snug and dry under the roof is an enjoyable experience for the whole family, With luck, you may even encounter some of the forest’s animal inhabitants along the way. The carriage rides depart from the hikers’ car park in Eichelberg, but must be booked in advance. The Stadtwald is worth a visit, not least for its historical significance: the land was given to the town of Weißenburg by Emperor Ludwig of Bavaria in 1338. Nature lovers now appreciate this woodland area for its extensive, well signposted network of trails.
