Munich – Regensburg – Prague: Three perfect reasons for a 450 km cycle path

They may not all be on the same river but they are all in one straight line: Prague – the "Golden City", the UNESCO World Heritage city of Regensburg and Bavaria’s state capital city of Munich are now all connected by a 450 km cycle path. Not only are these three European cities triple reason enough to get on your bike and begin exploring the landscape that interconnects them is also well worth seeing. The Bavaria section of the cycle path mainly follows traffic free tracks along the rivers Isar, Abens, Danube and Regen. In Bohemia the trail follows minor roads with little traffic through Pilsen and Rokycany to Prague.

Preliminary information in both Czech and German provide brief details on the 450 kilometre long-distance cycle trail ( download PDF 885 KB , German only). A Trail Map is available, too (ISBN: 978-3-89920-601-2, Verlag Publicpress). Depending on levels of fitness and how hard cyclists want to push themselves the trail from Munich to Prague can be covered in five (some 90 km, cycle time of six to seven hours per day) to eight days (some 60 km per day, cycle time of five to six hours per day).
