Out and about with Florian Weidlich
Actually always! Rosenheim and the Chiemgau are always worth visiting.
Tips for the spring:
Climbing on the sunny side of the Pleitewandl in Oberwössen. A real insider tip.
Tips for the summer
Stand-up paddleboarding with a fish roll snack and sparkling apple juice on Lake Fraueninsel and then to the Sundowner Bar on the Übersee to watch the perfect sunset in all its glory.

I love summer, everyone is in such a good mood. People are laughing, and beer and snacks just taste better on a mountain top or by a lake.
Tips for the autumn:
The local mountains around the Samerberg in the Hochries region make magical destinations for day trips. The Kranzhorn, for example, lies right on the Austrian border and there are two crosses on the top – one for Bavaria, one for Austria. The view into the Inntal valley is fantastic.
Tips for the winter:
Ski tours go to the Sudelfeld. The Vogelsang is an ideal route for beginners and you can enjoy a snack in the hut at the top. The route starts in the Rosengasse and the descent is via the ski piste. Simply wonderful.
On the mountain the summit of the Heuberg with views to the east and on the water the Krautinsel island on Lake Chiemsee. You can only reach the island by rowing boat. Nobody lives there, just a handful of white sheep and one black one.
You won’t find many people in either place, and the ones that are there are the right sort.
A day off. What do you do? ‘Go out into our crazy natural world – and then breathe deeply. That’s all you need.’

You can always get a good snack on the countless different mountain pastures. One good place to go is the hut on the Kranzhorn. Beautiful forest paths lead up to the summit of the Hochries. The best way to find the hunters’ paths and shortcuts is with a local.
In the Café Flower Power on Grünen Markt in the middle of Rosenheim . Sebastian, the trained barista, makes the best coffee in town and you can listen into the hustle and bustle of the city centre.

If you want to celebrate you have to go to the ONE-Bar. Assuming you can get past the bouncers. But that shouldn’t be a problem with a friendly greeting of “Servus”, “Grias Di” or “Habedere”. Here you absolutely have to try Stettner’s moor gin creations.
Go to the Gocklwirt on the beautiful Lake Simssee, run by the Huber family. But be warned that the food is so good there that you’ll be going back for more. My favourite is the Wiener Schnitzel. Boy, is it good!
… in bad weather?
There are always great exhibitions in the Lokschuppen in Rosenheim.
… a little culture:
It’s always worth visiting the castle on Herrenchiemsee.
On the last weekend in August each year, it’s time for the Rosenheimer Wiesn. A MUST for anyone who wants to experience traditional costumes and customs at first hand.
One special experience is a visit to “Bücher Johann”, a bookshop in Rosenheim. If you run out of holiday reading, owner Johann will give you personal recommendations as he has read ALL the books himself and makes environmentally friendly deliveries all across the city on his bicycle.
… with children?
It’s really simple. We go to the Gocklwirt on Lake Simssee. There’s something for everyone here. The cuisine is a culinary highlight in the region. The Huber family do the cooking and look after their guests’ every need. Kids can play on the restaurant’s own mini golf course or the adventure playground. Here you can marvel at the world’s biggest art clock. Come on in! And after your meal, you can walk through the forest paths to Lake Simssee.

When it comes to fashion and jewellery, we make our own “special” products. Otherwise, I always look out for regional foods, of which there are many in this region. The butchers’ shops Simsseer Weidefleisch and Gut Filzenhof are good places to get regional meat products. Fresh fish from Lake Chiemsee is offered all around the lake. I often cook Bavarian specialities in my own private kitchen. The best freshly smoked fish rolls can be found on the Fraueninsel, prepared by the Lex family.
A particularly special treat is the distillery run by Franz Stettner Junior in Kolbermoor. Here you should taste his “moor gin”, made from wild juniper berries from the moors, or you could wait for a little while for his “moor whisky”, which is currently maturing in oak barrels. It’s sure to be worth it.
Call into our showroom in Riedering and experience a very special atmosphere.
