When the Bavarians celebrate, idyllic, architecturally impressive or beautifully scenic places are transformed into the cool place to be. Inhabitants of individual villages or entire regions spend weeks preparing for their own personal calendar highlight with loving care: they sew elaborate costumes, rehearse their musical or theatrical performances and decorate their streets and houses with home-made decorations. In this way their traditions and customs have remained vibrant through the centuries.
