The mix is what makes a city, and that is certainly true in Kaufbeuren. The city in the Allgäu doesn't just help visitors to get into the summer mood at the Tänzelfest in July ; it also presents a varied programme of events for people of many interests all year round. The historic old town with its winding alleys also offers a large number of sights for tourists. A special feature is the well preserved city wall, which was built in around 1200, with its two towers. One of them, the Fünfknopfturm, is the symbol of the city, which is also known for its Town Hall. Culture lovers should not miss Kaufbeuren's museums – the St. Crescentia Memorial Museum, the historically-oriented Isergebirgs-Museum Neugablonz, the Puppet Theatre Museum and the gallery of modern art "kunsthaus kaufbeuren" demonstrate the multi-faceted character of the city.
