The history of Leitheim CastleLeitheim Castle lies high above the Danube. From the grounds, which feature the castle itself, the church and the vintner house, you can enjoy wonderful views of the surrounding area and a magical view of the Danube delta.
The impressive summer residence of the abbot of the free imperial abbey of Kayserheim was built in 1691 by abbot Elias Göz. Over the years, the castle was extended to include an additional storey, which features the wonderful Rococo Hall with frescos by Gottfried Bernhard Göz. The marriage of Friedericke, daughter of Friedrich Ludwig Camill Marquis de Montpernay, with Karl Friedrich Wilhelm Freiherr Tucher von Simmelsdorf, saw the castle be passed into the hands of the Tucher family in 1835.
