The 4-star superior Angerhof hotel is located on the sunny side of the Bavarian Forest in the spa resort of St. Englmar. The hotel founded in 1985 is one of the first hotels in Germany in which the idea of wellness was implemented and is amongst the most diverse spa hotels in Germany.
Grounds covering 30,000 square metres with play areas, gardens and sports facilities surrounds the hotel, a place for enjoying nature in peace or for actively participating in sports. Or for extraordinary sensory experiences on the 500 m barefoot path for the senses, which is covered with 80 different materials. A 125 kilometre network of hiking trails spreads out around St. Englmar with the "four thousands", Predigtstuhl, Pröller, Knogl and Hirschenstein. Cycle paths and mountain bike routes lead beyond the Bavarian Forest into the Czech national park Sumava. The marked network of cycle and mountain bike routes is 300 kilometreslong and connects up with supra-regional cycle routes, such as the Danube Cycle Route or the Regental Cycle Route. With four routes of different levels of difficulty, the Nordic Walking Park St. Englmar invites you to "walk with your poles" at a healthy altitude.
Winter sportsmen enjoy the magic of winter in the Bavarian Forest on 70 kilometres of cross-country skiing trails and 50 kilometres of cleared winter hiking trails. For downhill skiers, there are a total of ten ski lifts available in three nearby ski resorts, but the special attraction is the peace and primitiveness of the natural landscape, such as is hardly to be found any more in alpine skiing regions. There are also very traditional winter pleasures such as tobogganing, ice skating or curling – a covered ice rink is set up at the Angerhof in the winter and tobogganing parties are organised.
